Good Afternoon, Delaware City!

Please read the entirety of this email for upcoming events, notices, and updates for the month of August.

Tax Bill Update

We are aware that residents have not yet received their 2025–2026 tax bill yet. Please be assured that we are diligently working through the tax billing process to get them to you as soon as possible.

You can expect to receive your tax bill in the near future. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Air Quality Monitoring in Delaware City

Last week, the City of Delaware City installed 3 of 6 planned Air Quality Monitors throughout the city, provided by the Clean Air Council.

These monitors are tracking PM2.5 (Particulate Matter 2.5) — tiny particles in the air that are 2.5 micrometers or smaller. While these devices detect the presence of fine particles, it’s important to note that they do not identify the specific type or source of the material.

PM2.5 levels can be influenced by a variety of common sources, including:

  • Small engines such as lawn mowers
  • Idling vehicles and diesel trucks
  • Weather conditions (temperature, humidity, wind direction)
  • Construction and demolition activity
  • Pollen and other natural environmental factors
  • Industrial operations

An elevated reading does not automatically indicate a single source. These monitors are intended to support baseline data collection and ongoing community awareness of local air quality trends.
