By Code, property owners are responsible for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks adjacent to their property. This includes snow removal, which must be completed within 24 hours of the end of a storm. The City has an inspection program designed to promote the safety and accessibility of the city’s pedestrian facilities. Property owners will be notified and instructed to correct tripping and other hazardous conditions; however, property owners should be aware that they may face legal liability for injuries caused by the condition of their sidewalk, with or without notice by the City.
